For many months a gentleman called Tom Winnifrith who blogs for Shareprophets has been posting negative blogs about Quindell.
In an attempt to establish if Tom Winnifrith is a credible source I have looked at available information, both the positive and negative to ensure I obtain a balanced view.
If you just wish to read the positive comments only, please skip to the bottom of the blog.
1. Past Business History
a) KPMG report regarding Rivington Street Holdings and allegation that just before its collapse £100,000 of fund holders money was transferred out of the fund in highly suspicious circumstances.
Tom Winniftith was mentioned in the report.
b) T1ps fund managed by TW during his tenure recorded spectacular loses.
c) TW was a tipster and presenter of Channel 4’s Show Me The Money show during the dot-com boom.
This show attracted the attention of the London Stock Exchange as professional investors were allegedly making profits by obtaining the programme’s guest list and dealing in featured stocks ahead of the broadcast.”
d) In a recent posting Tom Winnifrith says ” he is a hopeless manager as can be seen from his past history”.
TW does seem to have been unfortunate in being close to failing businesses or allegations of fraud.
2. Why are organisations distancing themselves from Tom Winnifith?
Why would anybody take the time and effort to make such a change? It doesn’t make sense financially and I can think of no legitimate business reason.
It is therefore logical to come to the conclusion that it could be an attempt to distance ADVFN PLC from any legal action and potential claim for damages associated with Tom Winnifith.
3. Tom Winnifrith and his business connections.
a) Connection with Shareprophets
In his blogs he states:
“I am not receiving compensation (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.”
It is very clear from this that TW could instead of the above statement use the following statement.
“I only receive payment from Shareprophets for this blog.”
According to duedil.com. Shareprophets Ltd is 100% owned by Eden Moor Trust. With Shareprophets apparently having only one director, Darren Atwater.
But is he just a stooge as a whistle-blower has alleged Clem Chambers (ADVFN) owns 20% of Shareprophets and in return provides IT infrastructure and promotes Shareprophets.
Who owns the other 80% of Shareprophets?
So all we know is the TW money trail goes back to the Eden Moor Trust.
b) Real Man Pizza LTD.
Accounts from Companies House for REAL MAN PIZZA LTD-year ended 31 August 2013 indicate owned by Edenmoore Trust and made a loss of £127k.
TW has since confirmed that The Edenmoore Trust and Eden Moor Trust are the same trust. This ambiguity could only happen if accounts filed with companies house have been completed incorrectly.
Again if you give TW the benefit of the doubt it would be logical to assume the Eden Moor Trust is the same family trust TW mentions set up for the benefit of Tom Winnifriths dependants.
Alternatively we could have another Trust in existence.
c) Media Centre
Apparently the REAL MAN PIZZA LTD is not a restaurant at all. TW states it’s a media centre for his media activities.
Why would a media centre have a Food Standards Rating of 1 and have a website promoting food!
4. Job description
TW goes by the title “The Sherriff of Aim”.
No such title exists and this is therefore a self-styled appointment.
Much like Idi Amin, ex President of Uganda, who wore a grand looking medal on his military uniform that turned out to be a swimming proficiency badge from a swimming school in the UK.
Completely meaningless and as Adi Amin was so self centered he never realised people laughing behind his back.
5. Does TW believe what he blogs!
TW says he has set up a web of companies and trust(s) so he can blog as he does, so if he is sued he does not own a penny so he will lose nothing.
Why would anybody sue Tom Winnifrifth if be blogged facts that could be substantiated?
If he believed and could substantiate what he blogs he would have no fear of losing what he hasn’t got!
6. Why has the family name changed from Cochrane to Winnifrith?
Thomas Cochrane was in the Napoleonic navy in 1814 where he became embroiled in a scandal and was subsequently dismissed. He then went on to COMMIT A HUGE STOCK MARKET FRAUD.
Are we getting to a point in history when it might be the appropriate time to have a name change again?
Tom Winnifrith started posting negatively about Quindell on 23rd April 2014. The Gotham document was on the 22nd April 2014. How was TW able to respond so quickly having come to the conclusion Quindell was a fraud?
The Gotham report was 75 page long and I would suggest impossible to digest and verify by one man within 24 hours.
It took Quindell with all of its resources until the 25th April to respond.
Either TW had prior knowledge of the report and had already verified the content, or, just blogged without checking the information.
Has dedicated the majority of the year to posting negative blogs about Quindell. This while having a negative impact on Quindell can be seen as a positive for other companies, he might otherwise have decided to target.
Based on the above I have concluded that the likelihood of any of Tom Winnifrith’s blogs containing any information that is robust and credible is minimal.
This is my opinion you might have a different view.
ip address lookup on http://www.shareprophets.advfn.com clearly show ADVFN own this domain name.
